Hollywood’s Walking Dead
Universal Studios Hollywood opened its Walking Dead attraction on July 4, based on the most watched show in cable television history.
The California theme park has featured the ‘The Walking Dead’ as a Halloween Horror Nights maze for several years, but now offers the themed walk-through attraction 364 days of the year.

Guests come face to face with live and animatronic ‘Walkers’ that are said to be indiscernible from characters from the show.
To ensure authenticity of the attraction, Universal Studios Hollywood partnered with The Walking Dead’s creative team, including Greg Nicotero and KNB Efx, to develop prosthetics, utilize original moulds and painstakingly apply paint and detailing to attraction walkers.
“The Walking Dead is a phenomenon that has successfully and consistently affected the psyche of viewers on a global basis since its debut,” said Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood.
“We have taken its authenticity to the next level by collaborating with the show’s award-winning production team to create a thrilling, living representation of the series that can only be experienced at Universal Studios Hollywood.”
The Walking Dead attraction is located within an entirely new custom-built structure, situated within an expansive building complex just inside the theme park’s main entry.
Due to the intense nature of this experience, the attraction is not recommended for guests under the age of 11.
Home on wheels: 5 RV campsites to be built in Xiamen within 2 years
Updated: 10 May 2014
Increasing numbers of Chinese are traveling wherever the road takes them.
With growing demand for recreational vehicles in China and consumers’ shifting travel preferences, experts expect a surge in RV-related business in Xiamen.
“More people are choosing to explore the countryside and hit the roads with recreational vehicles – a home on wheels,” said Cai Wensheng, the secretary-general of Xiamen RV & Camping Association. “The idea of packing bags and heading out for wherever the road leads is the latest trend among many outdoor enthusiasts.”
In May of 2013, Dayun RV Campsite (大云房车露营基地), the first RV campsite in Xiamen, started construction on Xiamen’s Huandao Road.
“It’s the first time the RV campsite has come to Xiamen, and it will bring this kind of travel closer to the public,” Cai said.
Compared to other cities in the country, which have been building more campsites in recent years, Xiamen is still in its infancy. The lack of RV campsites has made it difficult for the mobile homes to go wherever the road takes them, as enthusiasts often worry about being stranded without electrical power or water, or having nowhere to dispose of waste.
According to Cai, at least 5 RV campsites will be launched in the city within 2 years.
“Xiamen is expected to see campsites for RV enthusiasts popping up in the coming years, including places like Huandao Road, Guanyin Mountain, Huwei Hill, Sanxiu Mountain and Yeshan Valley in Tong’an district, all of which are competing to become Xiamen’s leading RV-friendly places,” he said.
