Minimum Rental Duration and Costings

Minimum rental period: 5 days. Vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar day
basis, i.e. day of pick-up or drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of
what time it is collected or dropped off.
Long-term Rental
Special conditions apply for rentals of more than 50 days. Details available on
application.

Rental Locations (Vehicle collection & return)


Locations: Auckland, Christchurch
Office Hours:
Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 17:00
Saturday/Sunday/Public Holidays: 08:00 - 13:00
All branches are closed Christmas Day.

One-Way Rental Fee


One-way rentals are available between depot locations. NO ONE-WAY FEE IS
APPLICABLE.

Licence and Minimum Age


A valid national drivers licence is required. National drivers licences, which are not in
English, need to be presented in conjunction with an official translation or valid
international drivers licence. The minimum age is 21 years.

Standard Excess Insurance Cover


All KEA Campers vehicles come with comprehensive insurance cover. A standard excess
of $5,000.00 applies in the event of any damage to either our vehicle or third party
property. The renter will also be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged
windscreens and tyres. A security bond of $5,000 will be taken on vehicle collection.
The security bond can be paid by cash, traveller's cheques or credit card. Should the
bond be paid by credit card the amount will be debited to your account immediately,
any currency fluctuations are not the responsibility of KEA Campers. The bond is fully
refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with
no damage incurred to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party property and the toilet
cassette and waste water tank has been emptied and no items are lost or damaged.
KEA Campers offer the following two (2) options to
reduce or waive the Standard Excess:

Excess Reduction 1


Excess Reduction 1 at $25.00 per day will reduce the excess for any damage to either
vehicle or third party property to a maximum of $2,000.00. The renter, however, will
be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres. The bond of
$2,000.00 can be paid by cash, traveller's cheques or credit card: a manual imprint
of the credit card will be taken. The bond is fully refundable on return of the vehicle
to the agreed location, on the agreed date with no damage incurred to the KEA Campers
vehicle or third party property and the toilet cassette and waste water tank has been
emptied and no items are lost or damaged. The total insurance charge is limited to a
maximum of 50 days or $1,250.00.

Excess Reduction 2


Excess Reduction 2 at $35.00 per day will waive the excess for any vehicle and third
party property damage and the cost of replacing or repairing windscreens and tyres.
However, a security deposit of $250.00 is payable at the time of pickup to ensure that
the vehicle is returned to the agreed location, on the agreed date in clean condition
and the toilet cassette and waste water tank has been emptied and no items are lost
or damaged. The total insurance charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or $1,750.00.
Important

The renter is fully liable for any damage to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party
property if:
a. The terms of the rental contract are breached.
b. Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving.
c. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
d. Driving on restricted roads.
e. Water submersion or salt water damage caused through own fault. In case of any
damage to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party property a second bond will be
collected to cover the excess for any subsequent damage.

Road Restrictions


Campers/Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well maintained roads.
No vehicles shall be driven on the following roads: Skippers Canyon Road, Ball Hutt
Road, 90 Mile Beach, all unsealed ski access roads.

Repairs


Repairs of up to $100.00 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed.
Amounts above $100.00 require approval from KEA on-road assistance.

Vehicle Return


All vehicles must be returned with a full fuel tank. Refuelling at our depot will be
charged at $2.00 per litre of fuel.

Cancellation Fees


Fees in Percentage of Daily Rate if cancelled:
25 days before pick-up No fee
24 days to 6 days before pick-up 15%
5 days to 0 days and no show 50%
If vehicle is returned early No Refund available

Multiple Rentals - Minimum of 5 days per Country


Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify for a longer term rental rate. Australia and
New Zealand rentals can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 12 month period.

* Note: No rental fee charged on mobile phones - pay for call costs only.

Change of Vehicle


If, for reasons beyond our control, the reserved vehicle is not available, we reserve
the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost to the client.
This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to any
form of refund.

Taxes


All charges include 12.5% GST. All rates and conditions are subject to change in
accordance with changes in government taxes.
