• Clube Autocaravanismo Portugal (CAP): Founded in 1990, CAP is the largest and most active campervan club in Portugal. They organize rallies, camps, and social events throughout the country, provide technical assistance and advice, and advocate for campervan users' rights. • APCC is another established campervan club in Portugal, focusing on promoting caravanning and camping as forms of tourism and leisure. There are two regional clubs:

Be aware of the rules and regulations for campervans in Portugal.

The rules for overnight parking means that you can stay for 48 hours on the outskirts of towns and cities. Wild camping is permitted in some regions but you must check with local people or other travellers when you reach a camping area and move on after 48 hours. Leave the site clean and tidy.

Learn some basic Portuguese phrases.

Even if you don't speak Portuguese fluently, learning a few basic phrases will help you communicate with locals and get around more easily.

Driving Regulations:

Are smaller campervans and motorhomes cheaper to rent in Portugal?

Smaller campers or sleeper cars can be cheaper but if you want a larger motorhome then booking well in advance may make it affordable as the earlier you book the cheaper the daily rate will be. If you are looking for luxury motorhomes and more space for then book a motorhome so that your family has more room to spread out. Couples also book larger motorhomes especially for longer holidays or just for more space.

Why should I know the age of the rental campervan?

The age of each vehicle is listed because older campers are often cheaper than new or near-new. But expect these vehicles to be a bit worn around the edges and with higher mileage.

Are there pet-friendly rental companies in Portugal?
